Word stemming from the Spanish media on Monday suggests that Xavi Hernandez has wasted little time in wielding the axe at FC Barcelona.0 seconds of 1 minute, 30 seconds

Xavi arrives

The news which Blaugrana supporters across the globe were patiently awaiting was of course finally forthcoming earlier today.

On the back of a dismal opening to the campaign, which culminated in the dismissal of Ronald Koeman late last month, the man set to lead Barcelona into a potentially prosperous new era was officially unveiled.

The tactician in question? Xavi Hernandez.

After speaking to the thousands of fans who turned out to the Camp Nou to show their support to the returning club legend, Xavi, over the course of the day, took questions from the awaiting media, providing an insight into his plans for Barcelona moving forward.

One central theme reiterated by the ex-Spanish international throughout, meanwhile, was the fact that he and his incoming staff already have a clear plan in place, to push the Blaugrana back towards their rightful spot amongst European football’s elite:

❝We have a clear plan and we are going to follow it point by point.❞

Brau out/Nogueira in

And, as alluded to above, Xavi appears to have wasted little time in putting the first pieces of this ‘plan’ firmly into place.

As per a host of reports spreading across the Spanish media on Monday, the 41-year-old has sanctioned the immediate dismissal of first-team physio Juanjo Brau.

Calls had mounted amongst the Barca faithful for changes to the setup in the club’s medical room of late, amid an alarming stretch of blows on the injury front.

And, evidently, Xavi was in full agreement that such a shake-up was overdue, with the aforementioned Brau set to be replaced by Carles Nogueira, who filled the same position at the new Blaugrana boss’ former club, Al Sadd.
