On Monday, I was asked if there was a chance of Xavi Simons’ Barcelona comeback.
For those who don’t know him: it’s a former La Masia prodigy who supposedly left Barcelona for more money and a chance of becoming a first-team player at Paris Saint-Germain.
In an ironic twist, Simons still hasn’t quite succeeded at his new place. In the summer, Mauricio Pochettino gave him some game time with the first team (Xavi even scored a couple of goals!), but the youngster ended up being dropped to the second team.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has been part of PSG U19 these days, having scored 2 goals and provided 4 assists for his side in the UEFA Youth League.
Today, Fabrizio Romano reported that the starlet could be on his way out!
“Xavi Simons is more than a talent, he’s doing great. His contract expires in June 2022, PSG are offering him a new deal since June – but it’s still not agreed/signed.
“His agent Raiola wants to make sure on PSG project for Xavi in the first team or he’ll look for other clubs.”
