According to Diario Sport, Barcelona can trigger an automatic extension of Ansu Fati’s contract for a further two years.
This clause was negotiated by Rodrigo Messi, Lionel’s brother and Fati’s previous agent.
Back in 2019, Rodrigo convinced Ansu to sign professional terms with Barcelona despite the forward getting more lucrative offers from elsewhere.
Rodrigo Messi was adamant that Barcelona is the best place for Fati to develop as a player and gave priority to the Catalans in negotiations.
The aforementioned clause means that Barca can be a little bit relaxed in contract talks with Fati now. He’s definitely not leaving on a free next summer even in an extremely unlikely scenario the extension negotiations break down.
The No. 10 wants to sign a new deal with the club and Barcelona are keen on extending his stay, too.
