Malang Sarr was delighted to make a winning debut for Chelsea in victory at Brentford.
Sarr was a surprise selection by manager Thomas Tuchel, but didn’t let anyone down as the Blues won 1-0.
He later told the club’s website: “It was good, very good. A tough game.
“We did everything we had to do to keep the clean sheet and we were really happy today. The intensity, the toughness, it was everything I expected.
“I only learned I would be playing today at lunch when the manager read out the team. It’s everything I’ve been working for.”
Sarr appreciated the way Andreas Christensen and Trevoh Chalobah helped him as part of Chelsea’s back three.
“They’re both really smart and close to eachother. They helped me to adapt and we were able to help the team win.”
