”Tuchel is the manager i like the most”.Chelsea receive fresh boost as Barcelona make big decision amid Thomas Tuchel links

Chelsea have received a timely boost with speculation linking manager Thomas Tuchel with a move to Barcelona set to ease over the coming days.

Ronald Koeman has come under immense pressure at the Camp Nou following a slow start to the season and a summer of chaos that saw Lionel Messi leave the club for free – a moment that the Dutchman had no control over.

It had been reported that the Catalan giants were looking to replace the club legend with Tuchel, fresh off the back of winning Chelsea their second Champions League title.

president Joan Laporta had shortlisted club legend Xavi and Andrea Pirlo, while also stating that Tuchel is the manager he ‘likes the most’.

But now Laporta has put an end to the speculation and revealed that Koeman will remain Barcelona manager regardless of any imminent negative results.

“Koeman will stay,” Laporta said, as quoted by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

“He will continue to be the coach regardless of tonight game result. He deserves a margin of confidence, he’s Barcelona legend. I appreciate how he has accepted to coach the club in these difficult times.”

Tuchel only made the move to Stamford Bridge back in January as Frank Lampard’s replacement and has enjoyed great success since, winning the Champions League and reaching the final of the FA Cup.

It would have been a huge surprise if he were to leave, given his statement at the time of the German’s contract renewal in June.

“I cannot imagine a better occasion for a contract renewal. I am grateful for the experience and very happy to stay part of the Chelsea family,” Tuchel said in early June.

“There is far more to come and we are looking forward to our next steps with ambition and much anticipation.”
