Things have gone so smoothly for Thomas Tuchel since he arrived at Chelsea that he’s barely had a thing to get frustrated about.
His first run of concerning form since he came to Chelsea finally seems to be getting under his skin a little though, and his rather short response to a question about Mason Mount told you that he’s starting to feel the pressure a little.
Asked about whether his team missed the midfielder, he cut off the interrogator to agree, but also to point out that one can’t just put bad performances down to the players who weren’t on the pitch.
“Of course we want to have Mason… but we can’t reduce our performances to the players we’re missing.”
In recent weeks, Mount and N’Golo Kante have missed plenty of time, as has Reece James. Maybe we can’t blame any individual absence for our issues, but there’s no doubt that the combination of missing all those stars is hurting us.
It sounds like Mount will be back this weekend however, so there’s no need to panic just yet.
