Ruben Loftus-Cheek and three more Chelsea players tipped to leave in January transfer window

From Timo Werner to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, here are four players who could leave Chelsea in the January transfer window

Here are four players who could leave Stamford Bridge when the window opens in just under two months.

Antonio Rudiger

Rudiger has become a mainstay in Tuchel’s defence since the German manager arrived midway through last season.

Prior to his arrival, Rudiger was considering leaving the club but his increased game time, and a Champions League winners medal, convinced him to stay.

But his contract runs out in the summer and a new deal has yet to be agreed.

Instead of letting him walk for free in June, Chelsea may opt to let him go in January and recoup a fee.

Ross Barkley

Having spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, Barkley returned in the summer looking to impress Tuchel.

Now 27, the midfielder is in desperate need of regular football and though he has forced a way into the manager’s plans as of late, it’s been off the bench in the league and in the Carabao Cup.

Unless the minutes increase over the next two months or so, Barkley could force the issue and ask to leave.

Timo Werner

The striker arrived at Stamford Bridge with a reputation of being one of European football’s top forwards, to the point where Werner was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

Instead, the Blues secured his service and he helped the side win the Champions League in his first season.

The arrival of Romelu Lukaku in the summer has moved Werner down the Chelsea pecking order and though Tuchel has deployed the two upfront at times, it remains to be seen whether that is a long-term solution.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Another midfielder who was out on loan last season and returned trying to force his way into Chelsea’s starting line-up, Loftus-Cheek has been rotated in and out of the team since September.

The Cobham academy graduate has all the tools in his arsenal to be a regular in the Blues side but faces an uphill battle to displace N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic.
