The Chelsea manager is looking to relieve the pressure on Romelu Lukaku who has been seven games without a goal, although he has also been struggling with injuries during that time.
Lukaku missed their match with Norwich last weekend, and, in his absence, they still managed to put seven past a hapless Norwich City.
But with Timo Werner still struggling to find the net with any consistency, the German feels his side lack depth in their squad when it comes to the number nine position, having let both Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abrahams leave for Italy in the summer.
Both have done well for their respective new clubs and the decision to allow the two men to leave at the same time now looks questionable in retrospect.
At this stage it is not believed that the club have drawn up a shortlist of targets.
