Thomas Tuchel told he already has the answer to Chelsea’s midfield problem

Despite suffering their first loss of the season on Saturday, the start of the 2021-22 campaign has been a strong one for Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea.

They sit on 13 points from a possible 18 in the Premier League and will also have an eye on retaining the Champions League crown they won in May against Manchester City.

But City beat the Blues on Saturday with Chelsea’s midfield in particular looking surprisingly lacklustre.

But many fans are already looking to the future with excitement as Conor Gallagher continues to impress during his loan spell across the capital with Crystal Palace.

The midfielder had put in excellent displays against West Ham United and Tottenham and he impressed again during Palace’s Monday Night Football clash with arch rivals Brighton.

Towards the end of the first half, Gallagher burst forward from midfield and into the Seagulls’ box, only to be barged to the ground by Leandro Trossard.

Despite Brighton’s protest, the penalty was given, and in the studio Thierry Henry agreed with the decision, piling praise on the 21-year-old.

“Conor Gallagher did so well to cut across Cucurella,” Henry said when analysing the incident.

“That’s a foul for me already and I think Troussard gets unlucky with the fact Gallagher is ahead of him. It happens really quick, that’s a proper push that makes Conor Gallagher fall.

“Trossard comes in extends his arm because of the body position of Gallagher and the push from Cucurella it’s a penalty.”

Plenty of Chelsea fans were also wowed by the incident and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts. Here is what they had to say.
