Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on Chelsea after beating Thomas Tuchel’s side 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.
Gabriel Jesus’ deflected strike was the only goal of the game as the hosts crashed to their first defeat of the Premier League season after a fast start to the 2021/22 campaign.
“Come here and play our game. Sometimes you cannot do it if the opponent is better. We were encouraged to play high and they could not make the build-up like they are masters,” Guardiola told BT Sport after the game.
“They are so good, and that’s why I’m pleased for the way we played. Yeah, the king of the Champions League and the way we played.
“The team can always think and play good or bad but it doesn’t matter where we play we will try to do it and the lads were fantastic, in this stadium, against these opponents and did what we have done have made me so proud.”.
