Ronaldo flew to Lisbon on Friday prior to United’s announcement they had agreed to re-sign the 36-year-old from Juventus as Portugal have three fixtures next month.
The last of those is against Azerbaijan on Tuesday September 7 and United intend to have Ronaldo available well in time for his second debut against Newcastle on the Saturday.
United have until 11pm on Tuesday to complete their €23million deal for Ronaldo and they could announce his squad number before the transfer deadline
