“I’ve got no doubt that Xavi will be back as a coach one day,” Lionel Messi said during the Take the Ball, Pass the Ball documentary aired in 2018.
“He deserves the chance because of the type of player he was here. He will make an amazing manager.
“As a player he saw the whole picture from the pitch, I’m sure from the sidelines he will see it even clearer,” Messi said.
Barca captain Sergio Busquets also stated in the documentary: “He [Xavi] will be back one day, I don’t know when but he wants to come back and he has the same football philosophy as Pep.”
Barcelona sacked Ronald Koeman on Wednesday which opens the door for a new manager to come in.
Xavi is currently favourite to take over, which means Messi and Busquets were not far off the mark
