Chelsea were beaten by Manchester City on Saturday but Pep Guardiola’s side tasted defeat in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva has sent a message to compatriot Neymar after Paris Saint-Germain beat Manchester City 2-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The result came just days after Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by Pep Guardiola’s side at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, the first defeat suffered by the Blues in the 2021-22 campaign.
Silva was introduced as a substitute in that particular clash, replacing Reece James in the first half. Thomas Tuchel’s side take on Juventus on Wednesday night as they look to defend their European crown.
City were seen off at the Parc des Princes thanks to goals from Idrissa Gueye and a first for Lionel Messi at his new club, a typically brilliant strike that flew past Ederson and into the top corner.
After the match, Neymar shared a photograph of himself alongside Messi and Kylian Mbappe, captioned simply with a series of ‘flame’ emojis.
Silva replied to the original post in Portuguese, appearing to reference the immense firepower in the PSG side. His comment translated as: “Hope I don’t see you any time soon @NeymarJR. God forbid.”
Neymar replied, however, indicating there is still more to come from the trio.
“We haven’t meshed yet, calm down,” the world’s most expensive player said.
Silva and Neymar were both part of the Brazil side that reached the Copa America final during the summer, only to be beaten by an Argentina side inspired by Messi.
The Chelsea centre-back may be right to wish against a PSG meeting, given that the west Londoners have won just two of their eight meetings and have not come out on top since 2014.
Both clashes during the 2015-16 season were won by the Parisiens by a 2-1 scoreline.
