Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has provided a positive update on his injury recovery ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Leicester City.
The 28-year-old twisted his ankle during Chelsea’s 4-0 home win over Malmo in October and has been out since.
Impressively, the Blues still managed to secure four wins and one draw despite Lukaku’s absence — which, according to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, is thanks to the other players’ stepping up.
Kai Havertz, who has filled the central forward role, has done very well with three goals in his last six games with Chelsea, but Thomas Tuchel would certainly want his main striker back in the team.
Based on Lukaku’s Twitter post, he might be able to make his return at the weekend.
Aside from Lukaku, Chelsea are also dealing with a few other injury problems. Timo Werner, Mateo Kovacic, and Marcos Alonso were all absent in the 1-1 draw with Burnley prior to the international break.
Mason Mount also underwent a tooth surgery recently which forced him out of the England squad but is expected to make the trip to Leicester City.
