Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to make Matthijs de Ligt the club’s record signing.
After failing to land Sevilla defender Jules Kounde in the summer, Chelsea are now turning to Juventus stopper De Ligt – with Abramovich’s full approval.
With Thiago Silva now 36 and set to be out of contract at the end of the season, a new younger defender is a clear priority for Chelsea in 2022.
AS says they are so keen to sign the Dutchman that they are willing to pay £102m (€120m) for his signature.
Chelsea owner Abramovich is personally advocating for the 22-year-old defender, who is under contract with Juve until June 2024.
