Chelsea have reportedly made an approach for the talented Brazilian goalkeeper Gabriel Souza.
The west Londoners seem to be looking to the future in the goalkeeping department at present. Last week it was reported that the club were eyeing a deal for Charlton ace James Beadle.
It appears the Blues’ search for shot-stoppers is not just limited to the United Kingdom, though. Thomas Tuchel’s side have now been linked with Gabriel Souza, who is a Brazil U17 international.
According to UOL, the capital outfit are one of two teams to have made an approach. The other is the Segunda Division outfit, Real Valladolid.
Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma has also been added into the mix along with the aforementioned teams by AS.
But it is the Blues and Jose Zorrilla’s side who have initiated contact with the player’s representatives, Leo Casula and Thiago Rafal.
Gabriel has an exit clause worth €7m in his existing contract with Bahia. However, a proposal is on the table to take 70 per cent of his rights for just €2 million in a deal structured differently.
The stopper would have to wait until he either gets a European passport or turns 18 before Souza can move to a new continent. He’s close to getting an Italian passport, AS adds.
