The Nigerian forward has been linked to a number of Premier League sides, including Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur
Chelsea could be set to go head-to-head with Arsenal for the signing of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen next summer.
The Nigerian has found some excellent form since arriving in Naples from Lille in 2020 having scored 16 goals in 36 appearances for the Italian side – including six goals in as many games at the beginning of the current campaign.
That has led to his name being linked with a number of prominent clubs throughout European football including Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Talking to Rai 2, he said: “Osimhen is already worth triple, the Nigerian is liked by Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester City.”
The recent links with Chelsea have emerged after Osimhen was compared to current Blues’ frontman Romelu Lukaku and has been backed to reach the Belgian’s lofty goalscoring levels, with the latter having returned to Stamford Bridge in a £98m deal earlier this summer.
Former Chelsea hero Giafranco Zola has suggested that the Nigerian could well step into Lukaku’s shoes at some point in the future.
He said: “I didn’t know Osimhen when he arrived last year, but I’ve studied him a little and I’ve discovered a talented player.
“His movements are so good and his athletic strength can be devastating. He is Lukaku’s heir, he is still young and with room for improvement.”
Prior to his recent goalscoring run, Osimhen could already have been plying his trade in England.
Italian journalist Paolo Bargiggia has revealed how close a switch to the Emirates Stadium actually was.
He continued: “You must know that Osimhen was followed by Arsenal: he was very close to the Gunners, but Cristiano Giuntoli spoke with Aurelio De Laurentiis and the president broke the delay: so Napoli decided and managed to buy him.”
As it stands, Osimhen has just under four years remaining on his current contract at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona
