The London giants have reportedly decided the cede their pursuit of Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, with the German tactician set to move on.
France international was on the verge of a move to Chelsea during the late stages of the summer transfer window.
But the move fell through at the last moment, causing massive disappointment in Chelsea’s camp.
The Blues maintained their interest in Jules even after the transfer window slammed shut.
But it appears they are now ready to move on from Kounde, with the German manager left convinced by the quality of his current crop of defenders.
Malang Sarr and Trevoh Chalobah, in particular, have showcased a lot of potential in these early parts of the season.
Trevoh had already made his Blues breakthrough earlier in the campaign, while Malang made a solid impression with his display with Brentford last weekend.
Sarr was indeed immense as he helped Chelsea retain a valuable clean sheet.
Although Sarr did not start in the recent PL match with Norwich City, Thomas Tuchel is convinced he has what it takes to help form the core of the
Blues back-line alongside Trevoh Chalobah once the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger move on.
Chelsea had also been linked with a move for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.
But it appears the Blues are willing to hand out chances to both Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr to try and prove themselves at Chelsea in the coming future.
