Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona – Goals and highlights – LaLiga 21/22

Hello and welcome along to this Cadiz vs Barcelona live news, where we’ll be covering all the updates from this Thursday night’s LaLiga Santander fixture at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona drew with Granada last time out thanks to a late Ronald Araujo equaliser and have only won one of their last four matches in all competitions. An internal war has broken out between coach Ronald Koeman and president Joan Laporta, so nothing more than a win will be needed to quell the storm at Barcelona, at least temporarily.

Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona – Final score

This is the start of our live blog for Cadiz vs Barcelona, with all our build-up coverage and minute-by-minute updates following from here. As always, the entries nearest the top are the most recent ones.

FULL TIME – Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

Neither side were able to fashion many chances, but after Frenkie de Jong was sent off, things got a lot harder for Barcelona. A bad week gets worse for he Blaugrana.

Minute 93 – End to end stuff

A Coutinho cross lands directly on the head of Memphis but he cushions the ball to no one, then after an attack led by Pique, the Dutchman flashes a shot just wide. At the other end, Salvi shoots straight at Ter Stegen.

Minute 90 – Time’s almost up

Coutinho fires wide with a freekick. We have five minutes added on. There is still time for Barcelona.

Minute 88 – One last chance

Barcelona are hoping to get one last opportunity after weathering the Cadiz storm. Coutinho has looked good since he came on. Could he be the hero?

Minute 81 – Save by Ter Stegen!

Barcelona hit on the counter as Espino pounces on a poor pass and rushes forward, before playing in Salvi, but as he looked to put Cadiz ahead, he was denied by the hands of Ter Stegen. A let off for Barcelona.

Minute 75 – The tide has turned

It’s Cadiz who have all the momentum now and are looking the more likely to break the deadlock. Sobrino gets on the end of a cross, but puts his close range header over the bar.

Minute 68 – Coutinho on

It’s been a night to forget for Luuk de Jong, and Koeman has decided it’s time for Coutinho. Can he make the difference? We will see…

Minute 64 – Frenkie de Jong sent off

Frenkie de Jong picked up his first yellow card on 61 minutes, then got his second for a foul on Espino as he lunged in on the Cadiz full-back, and is thus given a red card. Barcelona down to 10 men.

Minute 60 – Close call

A deft scoop of a pass from Frenkie de Jong over the Cadiz defence falls at the feet of Memphis, but he can’t get the ball under control and it’s cleared. Barcelona getting closer.

Minute 52 – Memphis denied!

An excellent move started by Sergi Roberto who found Luuk de Jong on the right and he crossed to Memphis at the back post, but his fellow countryman couldn’t connect properly and the best chance of the night for Barcelona disappeared. He was then denied by Ledesma with an effort from the edge of the box.

Minute 46 – Ter Stegen save

Alvaro Negredo has the best chance of the game with a brilliant shot, cuting across the ball, and it looked destined for the top corner, but Ter Stegen got across to claw the ball away.

Second half begins

We are back for the second 45 minutes and we have two changes, one for each team. Cadiz bring on Salvi for Alvaro Jimenez, while Barcelona replace Demir with Sergi Roberto.

Half time – Cadiz 0-0 Barcelona

Barcelona have had the majority of possession but have been unable to get on the scoresheet. To their credit, Cadiz have defended well and are looking somewhat dangerous on the counter

Minute 40 – Still no breakthrough

Barcelona continue to dominate, but haven’t been able to test Ledesma.

Minute 36 – Cadiz getting involved

Cadiz are getting stuck in a bit more now and are pushing back on Barcelona.

Minute 27 – Memphis goes close

Barcelona are starting to turn the screw, as Memphis has a go from the edge of the area, but it was too easy for Ledesma.

Minute 24 – Space at a premium

Barcelona are having the majority of possession but still unable to break Cadiz down, especially through the centre where there isn’t much space to be had at all.

Minute 15 – Gavi getting involved

The 17-year-old who is making his first start for Barcelona is operating well between the lines, and always seems to be in space when needed. Good signs.

Minute 10 – Cadiz deep

Things seems to have settled into a nice rhythm, with Cadiz sitting deep, inviting Barcelona onto them, but the sheer number of yellow shirts mean Barcelona are finding it tough to breakthrough.

Minute 5 – Spritely start

Cadiz have started well, and are looking to press Barcelona in order to hit them on the counter. The away side have set up very wide, but as yet no chances forthcoming.
