Barcelona list three targets for the summer transfer window

Barcelona, under Josep Bartomeu, were known to make erratic purchases to suit their marketing needs. Three €100 million-plus players — Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho, and Antoine Griezmann — were signed within five transfer windows, primarily based on very poor scouting.

Things are expected to go a lot differently from here on with Joan Laporta at the helm. The club seems to have already set their sights on three players for the summer transfer window with the goal of improving the team with minimal spending. Those players are, Dani OlmoPaul Pogba, and Erling Haaland.

last year of his contract with RB Leipzig, Olmo would be available for a discounted price. The German runners-up had reportedly asked for €75 million in transfer fees but would have to settle for an amount even lower than €50 million if the Spaniard does not agree to a renewal.

Pogba’s situation is a bit different compared to Olmo. Laporta is specifically interested in the world cup winner as is set to become a free agent in the summer of 2022 and can start negotiating with other clubs in January.

He is bound to come with extraordinary signing fees, though, and without doubt, compensation to Mino Raiola. In addition, Barcelona would probably have to fight Real Madrid for his signature, which seems to be his dream club.

Certainly, the most far-fetched of them all Erling Haaland. Several clubs will line up for the striker’s services owing to his €75 million release clause. However, a lot of them will step aside when Raiola and Haaland’s father lay their demands.

Barcelona would have to probably, shell out nearly €200 million to sign all three of these players in the summer of 2022, and given their financial troubles, that seems extremely unlikely.

It hardly comes as a surprise, though, given Barça have been eyeing high-profile players, including Raheem Sterling

That said, Laporta’s administration has already offloaded multiple players this summer in order to boost their financial aid. Going the extra mile with exits in the following summer could help them pursue all three of these players, which would undoubtedly make fans delighted
