As per exclusive reports from AS, Alejandro Balde’s recovery is not going as planned and his return will be delayed beyond the initial prognosis.
The Barcelona B left-back was forced off the field against Granada after suffering pain in his lower back. His La Liga debut did not even last 45 minutes as he was replaced by Oscar Mingueza.
His injury is reportedly only getting worse and is not as simple as the initially reported lumbar discomfort.
The first therapeutic approach taken by the club was a conservative treatment. However, the plan has not worked for Balde and the back pain he has been suffering from August showed no signs of reducing.
As a result, the player has now gone under a noninvasive surgical intervention to help boost his recovery. The outcome remains to be seen, however, it is reported that the player will not return before the end of the international break.
It is a real shame, as the young left-back hoped to capitalise on Jordi Alba’s hamstring injury in order to make a name for himself. The injury, however, means that he will not be back before the Spaniard’s return.
In his place, Sergino Dest has been the prime candidate to play at left-back. The USMNT star has taken the opportunity with both hands and has done his talking on the pitch.
Against Levante, the youngster was unstoppable as he wrecked havoc in the opposition territory. It was one of, if not his best performance, in a Barcelona shirt.
Against Benfica in the Champions League, Dest is expected to start again on the left side of defense.
