Barca ‘don’t want’ De Jong to play decisive World Cup qualifier, the Netherlands’ stance revealed

Barcelona ‘want Frenkie de Jong to rest’ as the Netherlands will take on Norway in a decisive encounter ahead of the 2022 World Cup, according to Diario Sport.

However, the player is expected to start the game anyway.

On Saturday, Louis van Gaal confirmed that De Jong had suffered a minor ankle injury.

Both the coach and the player have assured that it’s not serious and Frenkie will be fit for the Norway clash.

The Netherlands shouldn’t lose to Norway at home, otherwise, they will put their chances of qualifying at risk.

The clash will take place on Tuesday, November 16
